A pod of giant whale sharks were been caught on camera for the first time, stealing fish out of the nets of fishermen.

These incredible shots show the 20 tonne gentle giants placing their mouths against the nets and sucking anchovies through the holes.

Photographer Steve Jones, from Oxon, UK, spent five days in West Papua, Indonesia, documenting the special relationship that has developed between the sharks and the locals. The whale sharks are attracted to the local fishing platforms by the nets full of anchovies that hang under them.
