North Atlantic Right Whales usually give birth in the warm waters of Florida and Georgia, but one mother who missed migration gave birth off the coast Massachusetts. While scientists worried that the baby whale would die in the cold water, against all odds the calf survived and both mother and baby have now been reunited with their pod.

Over the past few weeks scientists had been concerned about the North Atlantic right whale that was spotted with fishing ropes entangled to its body on the Florida coasts. Their efforts have been rewarded with at-sea chemical sedation helping the scientists to disentangle the whale.
A young North Atlantic right Whale is being closely monitored after wildlife officials pulled in all efforts to rescue the animal from entangled web of fish lines off the Florida coast. The whale was most probably carrying the line for thousands of kilometers from its summer feeding ground near Nova Scotia.
