It was reported last week the the Toronto Zoo was close to acquiring a couple of pandas from China to exhibit at their zoo. The Toronto Star is now reporting that the deal is done and the zoo will have the pandas for five years, starting next year.
The much-maligned Toronto Zoo might have a couple of furry saviours on the way from the Far East. The zoo, which has suffered declining attendance the past two years along with budget cuts, seems to be on the verge of setting up a panda exhibit.
Queen Sofia was on hand today at Zoo Madrid when twins panda cubs, Po and De De ventured out of the breeding area for the first time today. The babies, who were born on September 7th, took their first steps outside accompanied by the Queen, who played with them and found out in the region their care.
