Bear Moves In To Montana Cabin

A Montana bear took a unique approach to hibernation this year – the bear is sleeping away the winter in a cabin.  Molly Reynolds originally thought her Georgetown Lake cabin had been broken into.  She was right – partially.  After Reynolds’ sister arrived at the cabin for New Years, she noticed evidence of a break in.  She then found a bed had all its bedding taken off of it and a trapdoor to their crawl space was open.  When they peaked inside they found their culprit – a hibernating bear.

“We had a bear crawl up through the crawl space of our cabin and he took out some pillows and some bedding and took it back underneath the cabin,” Reynolds told KXLY. “I thought that was a comfortable place for him with the bedding and he’s been there ever since.”

“We told [wildlife officials] that we didn’t want to disrupt the bear or have him hurt in any way,” Reynolds continued. “We don’t use the cabin right now, so we didn’t feel there was the need to get him out.”

In all fairness to the bear, he more than likely had no choice but to take over the Reynolds’ cabin – Goldilocks was sleeping in his bed.
