It was the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except for that deer that crashed into the house. That was the case for the Keller family of Bountiful, Utah this past Christmas Eve as a deer fell through a basement window and into their bedroom.
“I heard crashing, I heard the window go,” said a pregnant Maria Keller. “I looked down through the big window behind the Christmas tree, and couldn’t see anything. Then all of a sudden, I heard hooves – and antlers. My husband came in and ran downstairs and opened the door, and then shut it really fast, and started screaming.”
“When you’re waiting for Santa and his sleigh and his reindeer to come and land on your roof, and he comes through your basement window, we’re not going to forget it,” said her husband, Casey.
Unfortunately for the Kellers the deer was stuck in the room where all of their Christmas presents were wrapped and organized for the next morning. While it trampled through many of them, most of the presents were salvaged.
“I think we went to bed at 5am,” reported Mrs. Keller. “And the kids woke up two hours later, ready for Christmas. I was afraid I was going to go into labour today, but it’s all good.”
Unfortunately it wasn’t all good for the deer – Division of Wildlife officers had to put him down to get him out of the room.
