A 30ft long basking shark was spotted this morning swimming ominously close to a male kayaker in Panama Beach, Florida.
The amazing scenes, which were captured by watersports expert Captain Linda Cavitt, show the giant creature swimming around the pier dwarfing the 14ft long boat.
While the video of the scene became an immediate Internet sensation, it didn’t show the kayaker, who is said to be shark expert, jump into the water and swim around while grabbing the shark’s tail fin.
It’s reported that the expert knew that basking sharks are not dangerous to humans, and only eat plankton and algae.
Basking sharks are among the largest fish in the world, second only to whale sharks in size.
