How cute is the Bronx Zoo’s newest resident – an adorable white-cheeked gibbon?
Proud parents, Christine and Milton, welcomed the precious primate on Nov. 24, 2012. It’s the first of its kind to be born at the Bronx Zoo since 2000.
‘It seems to be very healthy and strong,’ Colleen McCann, the zoo’s curator of mammals said ‘Everything seems to be going very well.’
Milton, 15, is a first-time dad. Christine, also known as Kicks, is a veteran. The baby monkey is the 35-year-olds 11th offspring, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society.
The happy family can be seen hanging out at the zoos Jungle World, a rainforest habitat they share with other white-cheeked gibbons and different species of small monkeys.
Zookeepers have yet to determine the gender of the newborn. The tiny tyke was born with a tan coat that will gradually turn black as it gets older.
